Insurgent

I still can't get over the fact that I hate a character played by Kate Winslet haha, because she is one of my favorite actresses since Titanic. And I'm also not over the fact that Tris is played by Shailene Woodley who made her debut in the Descendants. She's come a long way and I love it! And Naomi Watts with dark hair? I'm tripping over here :D But the biggest revelation of the Divergent series is Theo James... Man, that guy is hot (And I also love you Ansel Elgort, no worries). Anyhow, I'm getting excited for Allegiant. That's the only bad thing about trilogies : the waiting kills me!

Club de Cuervos

Another advantage of having netflix? Being able to watch Club de Cuervos ♥ I'm so obsessed with this series, which takes in Mexico. When I watch Club de Cuervos (and I already watched it twice), it's just like I'm in Mexico. It just breathes Mexico. Gaz Alazraki is the creator. Yes, as in the writer who created Nosotros los Nobles, my favorite Mexican movie :) It's just so funny and recognizable. And the actors are hilarious. There are some familiar faces, like Luis Gerardo Méndez as Chava Iglesias. And let's not forget about the love of my life: Ianis Guerrero! Although I like him more as Lucho, he does a good job as Moisés in the series. A new revelation to me? Mariana Treviño. I'm so obsessed with her portrayal of Isabel "Chabela" Iglesias. Lady boss for president! If I would know Mariana in real life, we would totally be bff's, she's soooo cool! It's simple, you have to watch Club de Cuervos.n Normally I couldn't care less about football, but when the Cuervos were making their comeback... I cried like a little baby... CUERVOS, CUERVOS!!

Tangled

Now that I finally have netflix, I'm catching up with Disney movies. One of my new favorites? Tangled! I know, I know, it's always the same: girl meets perfect boy. Boy is an asshole. But in the end, boy is perfect again blablabla. But I don't care. I'm just obsessed with Disney and their magic! And the songs! Sigh ♥

Penelope

This is a movie that every child should see. It teaches you that everybody is beautiful, no matter what. Self acceptance isn't easy, and normally it comes with the years. It sure went that way for me. When I was younger I wanted to change a million things about myself. But now I came to realize that everything I wanted to change, makes me unique. Life is so much easier when you're happy with yourself :) Happy Sunday my loves!

Fracture

Anthony Hopkins does what he does best in this movie: playing a genius psycho. Although I never heard about this movie before, it's an amazing psychological thriller with a great cast: Ryan Gosling, Rosamund Pike, Billy Burke... and of course Sir Hopkins. Very nice movie indeed!

Hidalgo

Since LOTR, I'm a huge Viggo Mortensen fan. He's my ultimate guy crush. First of all, he's so. freakin. hot. He really looks like he can take care of you when you're stranded on an island. Or in the desert. Or in the rainforest. It doesn't matter where, Viggo will take care of you. But that's not all, LOTR already showed us that he's got an amazing voice. Can you imagine being serenated by him? *swoon* And he's a painter too! Sigh. Not to forget what an amazing actor he is. I swear that I haven't seen a single movie with him that I didn't like. He really got a talent to pick roles that will leave an impact. The latest Viggo movie I've seen is Hidalgo. I'm already a sucker for movies based on true stories. Add an amazing story about the bound between man and animal and a touch of native american history and bam... you got yourself an incredibly beautiful movie. One of the better movies I've seen this year!

Gato con botas

When I lived in Mexico (and had a Mexican boyfriend), I went to the movies a lot. Normally I always see the movie in original version, but when Puss in Boots or in Spanish Gato con botas came out, I had to see the dubbed version. Puss in boots and his lady love were voiced by non other than Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek. It was soooooooo cool to watch this movie, having lived in Andalucía ánd in Mexico, since Antonio is from Málaga, Andalucía and Salma from Coatzacoalcos, México (I even had a boyfriend from that same city, how big is the chance?!). I love this movie so much and back in the day, my bf and I made up entire new gato con botas dialogues in Andalusian accent. Such great memories... ♥

Chéri

How incredibly hot is the actor that portrays Chéri??? I didn't know Rupert Friend before, but damn... that man is mesmerizing. And the always elegant Michelle Pfeiffer is still as beautiful as when she was 20 years old ♥ If you're a sucker for French romantic costume dramas you have to see this movie. I sure loved it :)

Project X

This seems like the most epic party ever. Totally makes me long for Tomorrow Land this summer!

I used to be melancholical for never attending these kind of parties. When I was in university, I had to study so much that I didn't really got to experrience the so called "frat life". Fortunately for me, after my studies I went to Mexico, where I for sure found out what party life is about :)

That said, I leave you with my favorites songs of the movie. Party on people!

The House of the Spirits

As an '80 child, it's so strange to think that a movie from 1994 is nowadays a dated movie... But fortunately, you forget that The House of the Spirits is an "old movie" instantly, because its magic has survived time. I initially bought this dvd because the movie is based on the novel La casa de los espíritus, from Isabel Allende. Although I didn't read the book (yet), I'm very glad with this movie adaptation. Incredible actors (how hot is Antonio Banderas in this movie, holy guacamole!), an amazing scenery (I have to go to Chile asap) and insights to how life was during the horrible dictatorship of Pinochet...

The Lovely Bones

By now, you all know that I have a weak spot for movies that are so sad that your heart is aching when you're watching. The Lovely Bones is one of those movies. It touches one of the most horrible things in the world: child abuse and murder. And yet, it is brought to you in such a serene way with the utmost respect for the victims. Man, I hate Stanley Tucci's character so much. It only proves what a brilliant actor he is, because he seems such a likeable guy in real life. But the revelation of the movie is for sure Saoirse Ronan. What an actress. This movie is actually full of amazing leading ladies, yes I'm talking about you, Rachel Weisz and Susan Sarandon! It's crazy to realize how versatile Peter Jackson is, the director of this movie: from LOTR to The Lovely Bones... I'm a fan, all the way!

Fifty Shades of Grey

I only need to hear the Fifty Shades version of Crazy in Love, and I'm in trance haha :D Oh Bey, there's no sexier voice than yours. Except perhaps for Jamie Dornan... Man, he got to be the sexiest man alive right now. I really need the second part coming out. Like now.

Into the Wild

I must be the last person on earth that has finally seen Into the Wild. This is again one of those movies that make a huge impact on your life. It sure did on mine. I admit that I would never be capable doing what the protagonist of the movie did: leave everything behind, every kind of comfort, to become one with nature. Becoming one with nature sounds very appealing to me, but I would for sure choose an exotic beach instead of the freezing temperatures of Alaska :D What struck me the most is the tragic fate of the boy... If only he would have lasted 3 days more... The craziest part is this actually happened in real life. If you haven't seen this movie, you should: great story, breathtaking scenery and amazing acting!

The Monuments Men

When I began to watch "The Monuments Men" I thought for a second: wait a minute, they gave me the wrong dvd! Because the movie actually starts in Bruges (my hometown) and they talk in Flemish. Such a cool start! First of all, this quicky became one of my favorite movies. I reallly love the idea of protecting art no mather what. If I would become a spy or anyhow active in a war, it would only be for something like The Monuments Men. Cool fact, this group is actually based on true events! Yet again, George Clooney stole my heart. As did Cate Blanchett, I'm in love with her character! She's without a doubt one of the best actresses of her generation. Definitely one to watch!

The Hobbit

I'm having total LOTR withdrawal signs, you guys. Can't Peter Jackson write his own book and film it afterwards? :(

In the meantime I'm leaving you a video of my favorite character of The Hobbit, Radagast! I swear I wouldn't have continued watching the movie if the hedgehog had died!

The Counselor

The trailer of this movie seems so so promising. I mean, Penelope Cruz and Michael Fassbender getting cosy... But it's kinda strange that Penelope's real life hubby Javier Bardem is also in the movie. And he looks sooooo ugly in it, haha. He looks like a member of the Jersey Shore :D On the other hand, Cameron Diaz as a bad ass bitch, is actually a nice change of her quirky and funny self! I didn't know she had it in her. This movie proves once again that it's better to never go to the dark side. Because it's better to be humble and alive, than to be dead in a pool of money.

The Maze Runner

Of all the recent fantasy series, The Maze Runner is the scariest to me. It's so cleverly written and it just makes me scared... Divergent and The Hunger Games are Disney movies compared to this one (don't get me wrong, I love Divergent/Hunger Games and Disney)! I'm so anxious to see the second installment, only a few days of patience!

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay

Who's getting excited for the second part of Mockingjay?? I'm surely are! But on the other side, I'm sad that the saga is coming to an end. While we're patiently waiting I let you watch my favorite scene from the first part that still gives me goosebumps. Oh Jennifer Lawrence, you really have it all ♥

The English Patient

Most of the movies get dated after a while. But the truly good movies always feel like they just came out. In my opinion, The English Patient is one of the latter. No movie depicts better how wonderful and painful love can be at the same time. It's so frustrating to see that true love doesn't get the chance to make two people utterly happy forever and ever. Because Laszlo and Katharine were madly in love and each time I think how real love looks like, I think about these 2 characters. Anthony Minghella is a true artist and I'm forever grateful to him that he made this movie starring some of my alltime favorite actors: Kristin Scott Thomas, Ralph Fiennes, Juliette Binoche... They don't make films like this anymore!

Sigh, now I want to watch the movie again. How gorgeous is Kristin?! She's so intelligent, beautiful and graceful... She's one of my rolemodels for sure!

Public Enemies

The mob and love, two of my favorite elements in a movie. When you add Johnny Depp to the mix, you know you're in for an amazing ride. And who knew Marion Cotillard would make the perfect mob girlfriend?! In love with this movie and its many intrigues. Knowing that it's based on real facts makes it even cooler! This movie makes me nostalgic to times and places I didn't even know, and that's always a good sign when you watch a movie.

A La Mala

Everybody who knows me in real life, knows that I'm crazy about anything Mexican. Mexican cinema is one of them. Many people don't know, but Mexico has always had amazingly good cinematography and actors. And no, I ain't talking about the telenovelas (I actually can't stand them). You have many serious movies, but also comedies. Because let me tell you, Mexicans sure are funny. Insert the movie that I want to talk about: A la Mala, a movie that I saw in theatres last March when I was in Mexico.

Meet María Laura a.k.a. Mala (Bad girl in Spanish). For my Mexican readers: the protagonist is played by Aislinn Derbez, as in daughter of Eugenio Derbez. Enough said. I'm kinda obsessed with her since seeing the movie, girl crush alert! The male protagonist is played by telenovela king Mauricio Ochmann. And damn, could he be more hot? Love him! Back to the movie: it's about sticking by your standards no matter what, true love and bitches who are trying to bring you down. My favorite thing about this movie? Aislinn and Mauricio being a romantic couple in real life as well

And before I forget, I leave you with my two favorite songs from the movie ♥

Sucker Punch

I'm not a big fan of movies in videogame style. Except for Sucker punch. I discovered this movie when I was on a ten hour flight to Mexico and I loved it so much. It's so unrealistic (for obvious reasons), but at the same time so realistic. And I love the group of badass protagonists so much: hello Emily Browning, Jamie Chung, Vanessa Hudgens, Jena Malone and Abbie Cornish. At the time of the movie, these actresses were new in Hollywood, crazy how time flies by!

Bridesmaid casual

If they would ask me to describe my fashion style, I would say that I like to dress like a preppy bohemian rockstar. This description seems like a complete contradiction (actually it doesn’t seem, it totally is), but what can I say… I just like to clash styles because it just gives that something special and original to your daily outfit. Anyhow...  This weekend I rewatched the movie 27 dresses. Yes, the one with Katherine Heigl wearing ugly bridesmaid dresses. Fortunately, the days of hideous frocks are over and tons of fashionable dresses are be found! On Weddington Way for example, where you can select your dress based on color, length and style. How cool is that?! These dresses are so pretty that you'll want to wear them again and again and again. And why not?
Life doesn’t give us sufficient occasions to dress glamorously (I don’t mean glam, but all the way Hollywood glamorous). Therefore I started to dress glamorous in normal situations, scaling it down enough to be acceptable in daily life. And let me tell you, I’m the queen of dressing down a fancy outfit.

My favorite look to go to a wedding, and for those hot summer days spent strolling in the city, is hands down a maxi dress. I just love the mysterious vibe of the maxi and let’s be honest… A maxi dress always looks chiquer than a mini dress. So choosing a dress was a no brainer for me:

When you want to dress down, hair and accessoires are key.
Last week I had to attend a very casual wedding and I didn't want to put the bride in the shade (just kidding... actually I'm not ;) ...) and I found the perfect hair inspiration to dress my outfit down:

You can't go more boho than this
 Next up? Make up!
I would totally opt for dark nails to break with the romantic vibe of the dress.

My favorite? Rouge Noir from Chanel:
And killer lips to match... My favorite is definitely Mac, hands down the best lipstick out there. This particular shade is Dark Side:
Since we're going with bold lips here, I would recommend a soft, natural look for the eyes.
Another crucial part of the outfit are the accessories ofcourse. To rough this outfit up, I would go for a killer statement necklace and earrings, like these ones that I found on The Outnet... I'm so obsessed with Elizabeth Cole these days: really stand out pieces for a reasonable price:
But what about the shoes? If you would wear this dress to a wedding, I would scream: put some killer high heels on! But today it's about dressing down, so flat sandals are a must, like these Michael Kors ones:
Ok, we're almost there... When you attend a wedding, you see clutches everywhere. But you gotta admit... Clutches in real life simply don't work, because where do you leave your keys, cellphone, wallet, chewing gums, etc... ? Insert the bags of all (casual) bags: Mulberry's Alexa bag:
Last but not least, the ultimate piece that can't be missing in your wardrobe and one of my personal favorites when dressing down: the denim shirt. Perfect for those long summer nights

Inhale

Just the fact that this movie takes place in Mexico, was already a go for me. Diane Kruger was just a pleasant bonus for me! I didn't hear about this movie beforehand, but it's definitely one to watch. Hopefully this movie will sensibilize people all over the world about a very serious and horrible problem of third world countries: organ trafficking. The best part of the movie? No, not Mexico. But the powerful message: you always have a choice and every life has the same value.

Into the wild

Some movies are so magical and at the same time realistic, that you'll remember them forever. Into the wild is that kind of movie. So pure, so simple, yet so touching. And the greatest thing of all, is that this movie is based on a true story. I admit, I would never be this brave to go on that kind of adventure...

Frida Kahlo

To anybody who knows me, my passion for everything Mexican doesn't come as a surprise. Since I lived there a couple of years ago, I'm obsessed with the colorful Mexican culture. And Frida Kahlo has become a personal muse of mine. I've always wanted some professional photos taken of me, but I didn't wanted it to be some lame studio photos. When I secretly told my friend Ana that I wanted a Frida inspired shoot in my favorite city Bruges, she was as enthusiastic as I and we got to work! I got the honor to work with not only one, but two incredibly gifted photographers. I'm also happy that I can call these beautiful Mexicans my dear friends. They made me feel like a Mexican princess and I'm going to cherish these photos forever and ever. Thank you Ana and Tati ♥ And ofcourse a big shoutout to Karla for the breathtaking make up. When can we do another shoot? :)

Pocahontas

I don't know why, but it seems that I'm the only one of my generation who thinks that Pocahontas is one of the best Disney movies of all time. Whenever we talk about Disney and I tell that Pocahontas is my favorite (together with The Lion King), they tell me that they didn't like it all. What can I say, I was already intrigued by indigenous culture from an early age: living in harmony with the nature (and animals) has always be one of my priorities, I try to respect, care and value Mother Nature at all times. This and the fact that my great grandfather was an indian from North America, made Pocahontas my idol when I was little.

P.S. I still get goosebumps when I listen to Colors of the Wind... ♥

Frozen

Let it go, let it goooooo! Disney did it again! Is it normal that I still sing alone and cry while watching Disney movies? Bueno, I honestly don't care, because I'm in love with Frozen! Disney does moral lessons best! A guy that wants to marry you after knowing you only 3 hours? What a creep! And what about true love? You always have to put family first!

Frozen is just a must see for everybody between 0-150 years old, seriously! And I don't know about you guys, but I'm in love with Olaf ♥

Robin Hood

I've always been intrigued by the legend of Robin Hood: first by Disney, later on by Robin Hood, prince of thieves with Kevin Costner. And more recently, I fell in love with the newest Robin Hood movie. I like the fact that this movie is very realistic, and less "romantic adventure movie". And ofcourse the fact that two of my favorite actors of all time, Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett, play Robin and Marion is a big plus. It's once again proven : Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe are a golden team!

I am just so obsessed with Cate Blanchett. Blonde or brown, with or without make up, young or aging gracefully... She seems always so charismatic and regal to me ♥
